The Garret Moss S.T.O.K.E.D. Foundation
(Starting Teens Over Keeping Everything Drug free) is
a non-profit organization in Northern Palm Beach County
that gives teens the tools to enjoy life substance-free.
Our mission is to help teens make better choices for
brighter futures through mentoring, social activities,
sports and education.
Northern Palm Beach County lacks organizations and programs
for teenagers (ages 12-18). While some organizations have
different stipulations or requirements for entry and inclusion
(parental income, religious beliefs, etc.), we at S.T.O.K.E.D.
believe that everyone should have a chance to better their
lives. S.T.O.K.E.D. strives to appeal to teens at all levels.
Regardless of where a teenager lives - from a suburban
community to an inner city neighborhood - he or she is
faced with the same problems and issues. The teenage years
are extremely pivotal and guidance is needed. However,
most teenagers find they have very little community support.
S.T.O.K.E.D. strives to meet these needs.
The most important phase of our project
is our Mentorship Program. Our Program Director, Pamela
Moss, has the experience and background to develop and
run the Mentor/Mentee application process, including
finger print and background check requirements. She will
also be developing various programs to enable our mentors
and mentees to interact. We have more than 40 mentors
who are ready to be a part of S.T.O.K.E.D. and there
are more than 1,000 teens awaiting mentors in Palm Beach
County.
Moreover, S.T.O.K.E.D. strongly believes that we need to
encourage teens to be active, engage in athletic activities,
be involved with the community and learn new skills. Through
our various programs and social activities, we believe
we can encourage teens to experience more out of life.
Most importantly, we will show teenagers that they do not
have to be high or intoxicated to have a good time or to
be comfortable with the world around them.
In addition, our goal is to raise enough
funds to build the "S.T.O.K.E.D. EXPERIENCE" - an after-school
and weekend drop-in café and youth center. This
state-of-the-art, multipurpose space will be a safe, supervised
and supportive place teens can interact with other teens.
Activities offered will include movie nights, weekend dances,
talent shows, games, exercising in the gym, computer lab
activities, playing pool and various field trips.
Whether through becoming a Mentor, pledging your financial
support or donating your time and resources, we need your
help. Together we can make an impact on teens in Palm Beach
County and help them become our leaders of tomorrow.
